Favouritism: a school of thought that has something or the other to do with the owing of favours.

The Fervor of Favour

I personally find it somewhat difficult to curate a concise list of my favourite pieces of media, as there tend to be plenty I've enjoyed enough to call a favourite. But I can try. Alternatively, I could also remove the requirement of "concise."

Some of these lists are only vaguely ordered, hence why I used <ul> rather than <ol>. All are also most definitely subject to change somewhat. Though they're all unlikely to change very thoroughly, as I tend to be quite dead set when I declare something one of my favourites.

Hehe.

Animes

If anything on here seems dubious, assume it was watched as a joke.

  • Kaguya-sama: Love is War
  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica
  • Lucky Star
  • Nichijou: My Ordinary Life
  • Azumanga Daioh
  • Girls' Last Tour
  • Kiniro Mosaic
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion
  • Strawberry Panic
  • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
  • One Week Friends
    • Heh, more like One Peak Friends.

Films

I don't watch as many films, especially compared to my father who's quite fond of the things. But naturally I've seen a good few, and there are a good few that've stuck with me and so I'd call some of my favourites.

  • Back to the Future
    • Enjoyed the sequels as well.
  • The Forbidden Room
  • 12 Angry Men
  • The Gospel of St. Matthew
    • Bloody cool what with how the director of this film only used dialogue that was actually in the titular Gospel.
  • Kiki's Delivery Service
    • As a representative for the Ghibli Films in general, as they're all pretty darn good. This one's probably my favourite, but I haven't actually gotten around to seeing them all yet...

Books

Provided that one is not one of today's brashly illiterate youth, one reads plenty books. (More than one, definitely.) What I mean to say is that while I've read plenty books, it's hard to remember them all such that

  • A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Jr.
    • Made me laugh and made me cry, even as I read it during commute.
    • Incidentally, on two separate occasions a man on the same bus as me noticed my reading it and remarked on how great a book it was. And I thoroughly agreed with both of them.
  • Girls' Last Tour by Tsukumizu
    • I've otherwise avoided putting manga on this list, but I'm making an exception specifically for this one.
  • Azumanga Daioh
    • Another deserved exception.
  • Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie
  • The Hollow by Agatha Christie
  • Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
  • Emily the Strange: The Lost Days by Jessica Gruner and Reger Rob
  • Hogfather by Terry Pratchett
    • As a general representative of the Discworld series. Others I liked in particular, if I recall, were "Guards! Guards!" (the first I read), Making Money, and, well, definitely some other ones for sure.

Games (Narrative)

I play so many games and have loved so many of them that this list will be rather long. I've also split it in two, as you can tell by the header. I reckon it makes sense to separate a list of one's favourite games with a primarily narrative focus, and which in general doesn't lend itself to replays, (I mean, some do, but you get the idea.) from games like Terraria.

  • Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc / Goodbye Despair
    • Counting both, as both were quite good. I'd hold THH over DR2, though, as I found it to be more consistently good, and had a better atmosphere. (No side-view Hinata, too.)
    • I don't hold DRV3 as high as these two, even though Kirumi Tojo.
    • Ultra Despair Girls was also funny and pretty fun, but, y'know.
  • Return of the Obra Dinn
  • Anthology of the Killer
    • My favourite of the bunch may be Face of the Killer, though I've always been fond of Hands of the Killer as its when the crazy cool song "Assembly" first appears and is used prominently.
  • Doki Doki Literature Club
    • Plus the Plus version, of course.
  • VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartending Action
  • Frog Fractions
  • Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes
    • Played the original too but didn't like it as much as the sequel.
  • Omori
  • Yume Nikki
  • The Stanley Parable
    • Ultra Deluxe the Ultra Deluxe version, of course.
  • milk inside of a bag of milk
    • Sequel the Sequel too, of course.
  • Undertale
    • Deltarune the Deltarune too, of course.
  • Pony Island
    • Pre-emptively Panda Circus the Panda Circus too, of course.

Games (Nonnarrative)

I'm counting Celeste as "nonnarrative" even though it does have a prominent story on account of its gameplay lending itself heavily to replayability. So should I have called these categories "Nonreplayable" and "Replayable"? Who cares!? Ahaha!

  • Terraria
  • Slay the Spire
  • The Escapists
  • NES Tetris
  • Splatoon
  • Rogue Legacy
  • Celeste
  • Touhou 6: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil
  • ZZT

Games (Multiplayer)

You know what? A third category could be called for. These are the games I like to play with my friends the most. Or wish my friends would play with me, in the case of Puyo Puyo Tetris.

  • Towerfall
  • Full Metal Furies
  • Puyo Puyo Tetris 2
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • Screencheat

Favourite Splatoon Weapons

As of Splatoon 3. Not super ordered, but Slosher and Gloogas are my top favourites definitely, and are the only weapons I've Five-Starred thus far.

  • Slosher / Order Slosher
    • Ever since Splatoon 1, where I as a young casual loved the vanilla kit, not because of the OP Burst Bomb combos but because I liked Inkstrike and the bucket.
  • Glooga Dualies
  • 52. Gal
    • Vanilla kit's wall is better to play around, but Deco is fun too and also looks nicer.
  • Sloshing Machine
  • Sorella Splat Brella
  • Sorella Tenta Brella
  • Recycled Brella Mk II
    • Mist on it is disappointing, but the Splashdown is very fun, and I find the main weapon fun as well.
  • 96. Gal Deco
  • Custom Range Blaster
  • Rapid Blaster (Vanilla and Deco)
    • Vanilla kit not optimal but I find it quite fun. Mines combo with the main very well.

Favourite Fortnite Locations

From back when I used to play.

  • Lonely Lodge
